Re: Retiree Banquet-General Update
Dear Pension Recipients:
The next retiree's banquet will be held Wednesday, May 16,
2001, at the Manchaca Fire Hall. The fire hall is located at
1310 FM1626. Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the program will
start at 7:00 p.m. Please refer to the enclosed invitation for a
list of the retirees to be honored. I hope to see many of you there!
We have made several changes for withholding tax so far this year.
Please remember we do not automatically increase your withholding
tax when cost-of-living increases are approved, such as the
3.4% increase approved last January 1, 2001. If you need to have
your withholding tax increased, please call our office. The changes
need to be made through our office only, not through correspondence
with the bank. We can now take the information directly over the
phone.
We have not lost any of our retirees or widows since our last
update. Our last retiree to pass away was Harold Ponder and
he was in the benevolent fund. Harold passed away November 3, 2000,
and is survived by his wife, Vernell. One of our widows, Mrs. Artha
Carr, passed away October 31, 2000. She was the widow of retiree
Harry Carr, who earlier passed away June 2, 1986. For those in
the benevolent fund, Gary Pounds asked us to remind everyone that
your beneficiaries for your benevolent fund benefits be checked
and updated if necessary. Most of you are up to date on your
dues and the benevolent fund committee is most appreciative of your
interest. Other benevolent fund trustees are Eric Mackey at Dispatch,
Becky Malone at St.18C, and Doug Fowler at St. 20B. You are welcome
to call Gary Pounds at 288-0591 for any questions or updates concerning
the benevolent fund. Don't forget about the retiree breakfast
group, which meets at Owens Restaurant every second Wednesday
about 8:00 a.m. in the vacinity of IH35 and Highway 290 East.
Maybe we will get to see you at the retiree banquet! If you have any questions or if we can assist you in any way, please contact our office.
Sincerely,
William E. Stefka
